This video caught me off guard a bit. will smith dropped a lot of concepts and thoughts that really make you realize how attainable things are if you go for them. maybe it was just the amount of passion he said it with. one thing that he said that hit the spot was..."you dont try to build a wall, you dont set out to build a wall. you dont say im gonna build the biggest baddest greatest wall thats ever been built, you know stop there. you say im gonna lay this brick as perfect as a brick can be laid. and you do that every day and pretty soon you have a wall" Some food for thought. What is the Collecting Pennies Philosophy?

The collecting pennies philosophy is strictly a metaphor. It is an analogy showing the value of one day in respect to achieving our goals and living our lives to the fullest. A penny has such minimal value it is hard to see the significance without an accumulation of others. Because of that we always overlook it. However if you think about it, imagine in your life if you picked up and saved every penny you ever came across. You would probably be rich. Picture this scenario. If the objective of an individual was to get enough pennies to make a dollar, they would be looking for 100 pennies. In that case, no one penny would have more or less value than any other penny, because the absence of any one of them would leave them short of their goal. Similarly if there was a day when you saw a penny and passed it by, when you got to 99 pennies you would realize that your goal would have been attained if you realized its significance to your ultimate destination. When looking at our life goals and aspirations the value of one day can be overlooked in the same way a penny may be overlooked. One day seems insignificant; however in itself there is immense relevance. Because it is the accumulation of minutes, days, and hours that inevitably leads to our success. While this principle is simple, and likely known, it is rarely practiced. Keep the destination in site, but understand the small steps required to get there. Like pennies, every day collected increases the value of the previous day, and brings greater value to the present. The purpose of this blog is to develop a movement where we come together, motivate, and inspire one another through sharing stories and experiences where the collecting pennies philosophy has resulted in success; and also sharing situations where we may need to implement this philosophy.
